CoolSculpting in Utah
Our Utah Coolsculpting patients find the technology mysterious and fascinating. CoolSculpting works by processes termed cryolipolysis. The skin and underlying fat are pulled by suction into a handpiece, freezing the fat and tissue that is drawn in. Fat is more sensitive to this freezing process than other tissues and the result is that the fat cells become irreparably injured and eventually lost for good.
Is CoolSculpting a replacement for liposuction?
CoolSculpting does not replace liposuction or other surgical procedures. Coolsculpting is generally not as aggressive as liposuction but for the right patient, the results are amazing. Having a realistic expectation of outcomes, our Utah CoolSculpting patients have been very happy with their results.
Who is the ideal candidate for CoolSculpting?
The ideal candidate for Utah CoolSculpting is in good health and at a healthy weight. Ideally, there are well defined stubborn fatty deposits. For patients who are overweight, weight loss or other surgical procedures may be indicated.
Another category of patients who are ideal for CoolSculpting may have several areas of fatty deposits. They may be better suited for liposuction for full body sculpting but have fears or contraindications for liposuction surgery.
Which areas are best treated with CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting has an FDA cleared indication for treatment of the abdomen and flanks (love handles). Like most medical procedures and devices CoolSculpting is used beyond this indication for specific patients. Other areas it is commonly used in are the arms, back, and inner thighs.
In 2013 a new applicator called CoolSmooth was developed that allows treatment of areas that are often not pinchable such as the outer thighs and upper abdomen.
In late 2015 the CoolMini applicator was developed to allow treatment of the neck and double chin
Does CoolSculpting work for the double chin?
With the new CoolMini applicator, the chin is now a treatable area for CoolSculpting. The results are best achieved with two treatments separated by a month. This is a powerful tool for neck fat with little to no swelling, bruising or downtime.
Is anesthesia required for CoolSculpting treatment?
No anesthesia is necessary. No needles, no sedation.
Is CoolSculpting painful?
CoolSculpting is not painless but it is not bad either. For the first 5-8 minutes of the one-hour procedure, there is a pulling sensation followed by numbness related to pulling and cooling.
Is there downtime after CoolSculpting?
After the CoolSculpting procedure, our Utah patients resume normal their activities the same day.
When can I expect to see the effects of CoolSculpting?
After just 3-4 weeks, most patients begin to see results. The most drastic results are seen by 3 months.
