Recovery 101: How to Recover from Coolsculpting
- Posted on: Feb 8 2016
Because of its non-invasive nature, recovering from coolsculpting is virtually non-existent, meaning that you can return to your normal activities within the day. However, if you are experiencing side-effects such as redness, numbness, swelling, or bruising, there are ways to make you feel more comfortable.
If you are experiencing noticeable redness around the procedure site and it is causing any itching or swelling, contact your doctor and explain your symptoms. More than likely it will go away within a few days, but it’s important to take all necessary precautions to ensure that you aren’t causing your body further harm.
Numbness around the procedure site is fairly normal especially for the hours afterwards. If you are feeling bothered by the numbness, you can do things to make yourself feel more comfortable such as placing a warm towel on the procedure site or try to drink more water in order to increase circulation.
Swelling around any procedural site is very common, even with small procedures like waxing. If you’re experiencing swelling around your CoolSculpting procedure site, don’t worry, you’re not alone. In order to bring the swelling down, simply place an ice pack on the target area for 10 minutes every 45-60 minutes. This will help to reduce the appearance of swelling and make you feel more comfortable.
If you are experiencing bruising from CoolSculpting around the procedure site, don’t freak out–it’s fairly normal. If the pain from the bruising is causing extreme discomfort, try taking Ibuprofen to help combat the pain and rotate between ice and heat in order to bring any swelling or discomfort caused by swelling down.
Unlike liposuction, undergoing a CoolSculpting procedure requires virtually no recovery time or painful side-effects. However, if you are experiencing any abnormalities, pain, or discomfort, try the above suggested techniques or consult your doctor to learn more.
